Delicious Indian Cuisine

Tonight our tour guide and Tanzanian native, Rumit Mehta treated us to
a traditional Indian dinner - best garlic naan in Dar Es Salaam!

Prior to dinner we had the pleasure of meeting with both David
Robinson, Jackie Robinson's son and owner of Sweet Unity Farms, and
the admirable Ambassador Daudi Mwakawago, who brought peace to Sierra
Leon - stabilizating the country and shipping out troops from 65
different countries to war did not return.

Their experience in Tanzania and leadership qualities inspired the
whole group. Tanzania's history and current business directions/
decisions are a very fulfilling learning experience.

What makes Tanzania so special?
1) They share one language
Unlike other countries where they may have dueling dialects, Tanzania
has great communication.
2) Tribes
There are over 120 tribes in Tanzania!
3) Founding Father
Set forth clear, inclusive policies and abolished segregation &
rationing.
4) "Political Space"
They have been able to promote peace without international intervention.

...I can't write down everything we learned today, but I hope you

Day Three

A tour of Dar Es Salaam & Craft Markets

Today we traveled around to a few markets and saw many local artists
and craftsmen. I made friends with this man and his buddies as he let
us enjoy his art.

Needless to say, we also bought a lot of trinkets!

The view of the Indian Ocean is amazing... A brillant blue-green
backdrop against rocky terrain. Our tour bus stopped along a quiet
beach for photo opportunities this morning - I will share them when I
get back.

This treasured monument was given to Tanzanian soldiers by the
British, during World War I.

Day Two

What a busy day of traveling... Though it was really closer to two
days of travel, I managed to stay awake to see our entry into Dar Es
Salaam, Tanzania.

After the bussle of gathering all 40-some-odd bags, finding room
assignments, and finally getting to take that shower, the fifteen
students and professor all sat down to share stories about the day, as
well as dinner.

So it's time to finally rest my eyes, tomorrow is a brand new day...

Flying into Tanzania!!!

Day One

It is a long journey to Tanzania, but not to worry... we are flying in
style on Emirates Airlines. With a huge list of "anytime" movies,
including Ratatouille, Juno, Transformers, Rush Hour 3, No Country
for Old Men and many more big titles, plenty of fresh blankets & plush
purple pillows, games to play - like online poker, and an abundance of
food and drink.

I even had spaetzle with my creamy curried chicken for lunch... See?
Real cutlery, moist hot towels, and a yummy chocolate mouse to top it
off.
